Arguments Against Democracy:

an object and a work that we could be proud of.
There are lots of cover records to be had. This one's ours. There are lots of tributes to those lost to us. This one's mine.
Should I have put it on display? Maybe not. But if there's any reason our songs should exist in the world outside my living room (and perhaps there's no such reason) then this one should. As I have no argument that can settle that debate I simply did what I thought was right.
And as you know, sometimes we do things simply becuase there is nothing else to be done.
Does the song hold up as a work or as a meaningful remembrance? Beats me. Can it offer anything that anyone other than myself would care to receive? Don't know. Does my voice hurt people's ears? Sure it does. But outside any considerations of art, taste or self absorption it says exactly what I needed it to, in the best way I could manage. It says, "I remember you."
